Hines Happenings

Two VVA chapters brought holiday cheer to the Hines VA Medical Center. On December 1 Geneva, Illinois, Chapter 693 threw a pizza party on the Spinal Cord Unit. In addition to lunch, chapter members Bill Troth, Bill Schoenenberg, Dianne Herzog, Chapter President Stanley Herzog, and Regis and Lynn Snyder (below) distributed canteen books and helped veteran-patients in sending out Christmas cards. This is the twentieth year that Chapter 693 has hosted a holiday party for the unit.

A couple weeks later on December 19, Chicago Chapter 242 members went to Hines’ Long-Term Facility. They visited with all the patients and presented them with Christmas cards containing canteen books, as well as gifts of underwear, socks, tee-shirts, pajamas, sweaters, shaving cream, toothpaste, and brushes. In addition, they donated $1,000 to the unit. Afterward, the two dozen Chapter 242 members (below) had lunch at a nearby Irish pub.
