POW/MIA Chair of Honor

Central Georgia Chapter 946 presented the Forsyth Welcome Center with a POW/MIA Chair of Honor on September 20—National POW/MIA Remembrance Day. Local officials and VVA members, including representatives from Chapter 946 and Region 4 Director Spence Davis, attended the presentation ceremony. It’s a simple padded folding chair on which are printed an image of the POW/MIA flag and an inscription about its purpose. The chair is mounted on a wooden platform.

“It’s not a grandiose chair,” said Chapter 946 President Claude Curlee. “It’s the type of chair a serviceman could sit in and feel comfortable.”

Forsyth Mayor Eric Wilson commended the chapter for its efforts to commemorate the nation’s POWs and MIAs from all wars and for its work locally. Curlee responded that veterans feel the pain for those who didn’t make it home. “Only the families feel the loss more than we do,” he said.
