A Seminar on Spousal & Survivor Benefits

During the Leadership Conference in Reno, AVVA will present one seminar: Spousal & Survivor Benefits. In an effort to educate and support the families of veterans about the VA benefits available to them, our program will focus on bringing awareness to what is available to veterans’ spouses, widows, widowers, and other family members. We have ordered updated Survivor Benefits brochures and expect to have a fresh supply to distribute at the Leadership Conference. I hope that you will join us.

Don’t forget VVA’s Project Friendship this year, Horsemanship for Heroes. That nonprofit was created to help veterans and emergency responders and their families through the use of equine-assisted psychotherapy. We need your help to reach our goal of $15,000.

Mail your donation to the National office or bring your gift to the Leadership Conference. AVVA will present a check to Horsemanship for Heroes during the Closing Ceremonies. A special thank you to Sandy Miller, an AVVA adviser, for helping us choose our recipient.

The AVVA Awards Luncheon will be held on Thursday, August 22. Our guest speakers will be the co-founders of Horsemanship for Heroes, Scott and Karolyn Hooper. Both are retired from the Army with a combined forty-nine years of active-duty service. I hope you will join us at the luncheon to hear them and for the announcement of our Member of the Year and VISTA volunteer winners and the AVVA Fellowship Awards.
