Announcing the 2024 Project Friendship Beneficiary

Project Friendship is one of the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America’s most enduring and successful programs. We officially launched this year’s initiative at the National Board of Directors meeting in April. The 2024 beneficiary of our support is Horsemanship for Heroes in Reno, Nevada.

Horsemanship for Heroes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering veterans and emergency responders—and their families—toward a path of healing and well-being. This is achieved through equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning, with a goal to foster resilience, self-awareness, and personal growth.

They are committed to providing a secure and supportive environment in which participants can form significant bonds with horses, helping those in the program thrive personally and professionally. We encourage you to support this noble cause by making a donation to AVVA and specifying Project Friendship on your contribution. Donations may be mailed to our national office or brought to the Leadership & Education Conference in Reno in August.

In January, we started our search for nominees for our national awards. Do you know individuals deserving of national recognition? Now is the time to nominate them for one of this year’s awards. The criteria and nomination forms are available on our website at www.avva.org. Please note that nominations must be submitted by May 31. The winners will be announced at the AVVA Luncheon in Reno, although attendance is not required for a recipient to win. We warmly invite everyone to purchase a ticket in advance and join us for the luncheon.

Our Vision Statement, “To create a better everyday life for veterans and their families,” will guide our contributions to the Leadership & Education Conference. Pending approval from the Conference Planning Committee, we will offer a seminar focused on benefits for surviving families. It will provide valuable information and help for hosting benefits seminars in local communities aimed at military families. We look forward to seeing you in Reno.
