Shenandoah Valley Chapter 936 continues to enrich lives of all the region's veterans

Since its inception in 2004, Shenandoah Valley (Virginia) Chapter 936 has steadfastly pursued its mission of enriching the lives of Vietnam War and all other veterans in the region. The chapter’s commitment is vividly displayed in its annual Veterans Tribute, an event that recognizes and honors local veterans’ community spirit.

Dave Daggett, the chapter’s Tribute Coordinator, and his team worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event in 2023. The Tribute attracted 600 attendees, who explored 22 Veterans Service Organizations’ booths offering support and assistance with a range of services.

Since its formation, Chapter 936 has been instrumental in fostering a nurturing environment for veterans, offering financial aid, organizing social gatherings, and providing educational scholarships. Its community presence is reinforced through projects such as road clean-up drives, festival participation, and patriotic day ceremonies. In that spirit, chapter member Art LaFlam sees to it that the American, VVA, and POW/MIA flags are flown on a local bridge on every national holiday.

Chapter 936 boasts a robust membership of 176, which has surged by 93 percent since June 2019. Chapter president Ronnie Zerkel holds membership meetings every third Thursday of the month, during which the chapter conducts business and members come together in camaraderie solidified by their service in uniform.
