Treasurer’s Report, January/February 2024 -   -

A Balanced Budget for FY 2025

This is the first issue of The VVA Veteran for 2024. I am delighted to report that our national organization is strong financially and has the resources and leadership prepared to face the challenges and opportunities before us. We have an active leadership team and a vital membership.

We completed the process of developing a FY 2025 budget and presented it to the Board of Directors during the January meeting in Silver Spring. The budget was developed through a comprehensive process that included all staff members, the Officers, and the Finance Committee. The budget is balanced and we all believe it serves the purposes and objectives of Vietnam Veterans of America.

One of the questions I have been asked is about the dues rebates, which are distributed from a designated fund. I am happy to report that the fund is sufficient to pay the obligations through the end of FY 2025 (February 28, 2025). After that date, the National Board will decide the future of funds going to the chapters and state councils. Each member, chapter, state council, and Board Member should begin to provide input into this very important matter.

After the actions at our National Convention in Orlando concerning VVA’s dissolution, we are following through with the prescribed financial obligations. In our April Board meeting, we will set aside funds for the transition.

Additionally, we will be working with Jack Devine as his committee begins its makes plans for VVA’s future. The National Convention has set the date for the closing of VVA as “To Be Determined” and, as Treasurer, I will be working to assure that funds are available for us to fulfill our missions.

I am available to answer your questions and will be a presenter at the Region 3 Conference in the spring in Asheville, North Carolina.

I wish each of you well and Welcome Home.
