Two Seminars at the LC

During the Leadership Conference, AVVA will present two seminars. The first, The 3-Rs to Recovery: Rekindle, Refresh, Reactivate, will motivate our audience by giving them the tools to return to their local chapters and educate the families of their veterans. The second, From Heartbreak to Hope, will focus on our families after a veteran’s passing. That’s a time when families are grieving and often feel alone and no longer part of the VVA or AVVA family. We will be offering the tools to begin a peer-support program designed to bring belonging and strength to surviving families in local chapters.

Don’t forget Project Friendship this year. Project Friendship is one of AVVA’s longest-running programs and has proven to be a positive challenge every year; let’s not break our success record in 2022. Fellow Countrymen of Greenville is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to ending veteran homelessness in upstate South Carolina.

We need your help to reach our goal of raising $12,000 for Fellow Countrymen. Bring your contribution to the Leadership Conference. AVVA will present the donation during the closing ceremonies. A special thank you to Sandy Miller, VVA’s National Homeless Committee Chair, for helping us choose our recipient.

During our April board meeting in Silver Spring we made significant changes to our dues structure. With those changes came the need to order new membership application brochures. They are now available through the national office. Contact membership@vva.org and, while you’re at it, request AVVA membership brochures. Be sure to include your name, AVVA title, and mailing address. Applications are limited to 50 per request.

The AVVA flag is available on our Product Sales page on avva.org. We recently submitted an order for more flags and found that the price had risen significantly. Unfortunately, we must pass that cost on to members. However, AVVA is committed to our membership and will sell them at cost.

The National Leadership & Education Conference is just around-the-corner. I hope to see you there and maybe we can find the time to sit and talk a spell.
