LIVER FLUKE: UPDATE ON A CANCER-CAUSING PARASITE. A lack of awareness of the threat to Vietnam veterans from in-country exposure to liver flukes can cause an undetected and fatal cancer. In addition, it has hindered VA benefit claims of veterans and their families.

When Project RENEW was created in 2001, 60-80 farmers and children in Quang Tri Province fell victim to accidents every year from unexploded ordnance left over from the war. Since then, great strides have been made in reducing the danger from these remants of war.
