In this issue:

The November/December 2014 issue of The VVA Veteran tells the story of three men—former NFL greats Rocky Bleier and Rosey Grier, and San Antonio Spurs owner Peter Holt—each a success in professional sports, and each touched by the Vietnam War in a different way. [on the cover]

Illustration by Marty BeeAGENT ORANGE COMES HOME Vietnam veterans know a few things about the effects of pesticides on the human body. That’s why so many have become involved in the efforts to oppose genetically modified organisms. Loana Hoylman writes about the connection between the two—at first glance, no connection; on second thought, the source of an obsession.

JOHN MILLER: Saving Lives During the War and After While serving as a medic in Vietnam, VVA member John Miller frequently organized MedCAPs—medical civil action programs—treating civilians in the villages when the opportunity arose. That experience set his life trajectory: He is still providing medical care to the poor and disadvantaged.

CHILDREN OF WAR: Building a Home for Orphans VVA member Ken Williamson shares his recollections of his humanitarian work in Vietnamese orphanages during the Vietnam War through words and photos.
