I did land survival on Eglin AFB, from the Naval Flight Training, Pensacola, in 1965. I am looking for buddy letters or other information to document Agent Orange spraying at this location during this time period. Anyone who remembers seeing or hearing aircraft spraying, or can verify the approximate land positions that were used for survival training at Eglin, would be very helpful with my VA appeal. Trying to locate my cousin, Mike Pascuwitz (unsure of spelling), who, like me, served with the Marines in Vietnam in 1968. I was stationed in Dong Ha, and I believe he was stationed in Chu Lai. During the Vietnam War my family hosted many American servicemen on R&R at our cattle ranch in Australia. Many came from rural areas of the U.S. and wanted to enjoy their time away from Vietnam in a somewhat familiar lifestyle. We still think of these young men, and would like to get in touch with them. Need help for a claim. Looking for anyone who served with me in HQ Co., 26th Engineer Bn., March 1968-69, and remembers the mortar attack at Fat City Base Camp, near Chu Lai, on May 23, 1968. Denver Haus, Jack Lindsey, three other engineers, and I were the first on the scene, carrying out bodies and gathering body parts. James A. Smith and John U. McAllister were killed. Need help for a claim. I was a field medic with Hq. 3rd Bde., USARV (SP4, Med. Co., 1st CSSR, 3rd Bde.), 1969-71. I was with the 1st Cav. We were on a “mini cap” out in the field for one night. Looking for anyone who remembers the following incidents: On January 11, 1969, on China Beach, Da Nang, a Marine LVT sank in the middle of the surf zone. I pulled two Marines to safety. In May 1968, at Hotel del Coronado beach, Beachmaster Unit One Lifeguard Co. was on a five-mile run. Two women were surfing, and one disappeared. My partner and I rescued the other woman. In June or July 1968 Harry Franzen and I were on duty at Landing Craft Coxswain School beach. Two Mike Boats (LCM-8) were tied together a mile off the beach, and a twenty-foot tidal wave was coming in. I fired my flare and waved the boats in. One hit a sand bar, and the tidal wave turned it over. A BMU-1 LARC pulled alongside the wreck. A Marine officer jumped to starboard and slipped, falling twenty-five feet. I rescued him.
