Trying to find information about the service of my father, John C. Davis, who served two tours in Vietnam as an SP4 or SP5 in 1968-70 and possibly 1972. I found his liberty pass, which lists 78th Trans. Co. He died in 2007 from cancer possibly due to Agent Orange exposure or a bullet that was left in his leg from the war. Contact: Tammy L. We would like to portray the personal aspects of the war: the day-to-day routine of life on patrol at sea, duty ashore, and downtime in country. My father was wounded, but was able to drive his truck through the convoy, picking up wounded soldiers along the way. Maddox was serving as forward observer with Co. C, 2nd Bn., 7th Cav. during a recon mission. When his unit became heavily engaged with a large enemy force, he exposed himself to enemy fire as he moved forward to call in and adjust artillery. When a soldier was wounded nearby, Maddox administered first aid and moved him to safety. When he returned to his exposed position to continue his mission, he was mortally wounded.
