A New Day & A New Year

In August we will hold our National Convention to set the path for the next two years of this great organization. This will be the first time for two things: 1) The AVVA Convention will be held in conjunction with the VVA Convention, and 2) AVVA chapters that have held valid elections will be allowed to vote in the elections of National Officers and Regional Directors.

All 2013 state elections will take place between January 1 and April 30. Chapter elections will be held in April. All election results must be sent to the appropriate state or regional officer by May 30. Region, state, and chapter database reports must be sent to the Election Committee by May 30. There will be no exceptions.

The business of the Convention will take place on Thursday, August 15, and the election of National Officers and Regional Directors will be held Friday, August 16. Offices are held for two-year terms.

If you are interested in running for any position on the National Board, please review the qualifications and duties set forth in Section 1 of the Policies and Procedures. We have posted these—as well as other vital information—on our website.

Candidates are expected to treat their opponents with respect and dignity at all times. The deadline for registering as a delegate or a candidate is June 30. The Election Committee urges you to familiarize yourself with Section 5. Please do not hesitate to ask for help.

Be a part of this unprecedented occasion; follow the guidelines; and submit the paperwork. I look forward to meeting with you in Jacksonville, Florida. I am confident that this will be an outstanding and memorable election.
