Need corroboration for a claim. Looking for anyone who had Basic Training with me at Great Lakes, Ill., July-December 1965, and remembers when a training instructor kicked me in the head after I could not float on my back during a swimming exercise. Also looking for anyone who served with me aboard U.S.S. Fisk (DD-842). In March-April 1966 the ship fired heavily on Da Nang. While the big guns were firing, a hatch door always flew open, and I sustained hearing loss after closing the door. I also need verification that the ship’s steam lines were insulated with asbestos, and that in mid-July 1967 there was a fire in the engine room caused by an oil rag being laid on one of the steam lines. I extinguished the fire and was burned on both arms. Contact: Harry D. McPherson TDCJ #1435368, Pack-1 Unit, 2400 Wallace Pack Rd., Navasota, TX 77868.

Contact: Bill R. Bilbrey, 772 E. Sweet Briar Ln., Monroe, MI 48161.

My brother, Edward Scott, Jr., needs verification of service. He was assigned to fleet duty as a Navy Corpsman and sent to Camp Schwab, Okinawa, in July 1961, where he believes Agent Orange was used during training. In January 1962 he was transferred to Pioneer Bn., 3rd Marine Div., Camp Koza, right outside of Kadena Air Base. In early February 1962 they boarded a land ship dock, landed near Bangkok, and drove a jeep to Ubon. They were building an airstrip, and wore plastic raincoats to keep from getting wet from the Agent Orange used to clear the jungle. Because his DD-214 does not reflect that he served outside of the U.S. in July 1961-62, my brother has been declared ineligible for compensation for his lung and brain cancer and his diabetes.
