ON THE COVER: NVA troops march in the rain along the Ho Chi Minh Trail over the Truong Son Mountains in 1969, a year after the Tiger Hound battle zone had been folded into Operation Commando Hunt. After suffering a head wound in combat, Le Minh Truong was reassigned to Hanoi’s Vietnamese News Agency to photograph the Ho Chi Minh Trail. He traveled alone with few supplies, and it is said he developed his film in streams under the cover of the night. When he took this photograph, he had already been documenting this supply route for more than a decade.
