Mission of Honor

On December 14 members of Bordentown, New Jersey, Chapter 899 participated in the annual Mission of Honor Wreathing Laying at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery. A dozen chapter members—Rich Beswick, Charlie Davies, Brian DuMont, Bill Carlin, Joe Catalfamo, Bill West, Don Mohr, Harvey Crawford, Karl Birgl, Ron Hathaway, Ordway Van Hee, and Chapter Chaplain and Mission of Honor Chair Jerry Skorch—attended. They were joined by about seventy people, including former New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and New Jersey Adjutant General, Brig. Gen. Michael Cunniff of the National and Air Guard.

Chapter 899 was especially grateful for the participation of the JROTC of Pemberton Township High School. The ceremony is held every year to honor the veterans who were buried by the Mission of Honor—an organization dedicated to identifying and burying with full military honors the unclaimed cremains of American veterans.

Chapter 899 began the Mission of Honor in 2005, and it was taken over by Fran Carrasco as chair in 2007. The chapter supplies the Honor Guard and Rifle Squad for each interment.
