One Generation To Another

Knoxville, Tennessee, Chapter 1078 held a Tribute to Modern War Veterans August 6 to recognize, honor, and welcome home local younger veterans. An emotional high point was when Sgt. Danny Gordon, just one day returned from deployment, surprised his Vietnam War veteran father, VVA member Danny Gordon, Sr., by presenting him with a 50th Vietnam War Commemoration pin. VVA’s Founding Principle, “Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another,” was on full display. Also recognized and honored were area Gold Star mothers and families of fallen local modern war veterans.

“Chapter President Don Smith and the members of Chapter 1078 hosted an impressive tribute to our brothers and sisters of the modern war era,” Tennessee State Council President Barry Rice said. “Plus, the barbeque and all the food was outstanding.”
